- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★If you need somewhere to go right away you should call agape. MHA does not have emergency housing and they tell you that when you call. As far mha letting people keep section 8 for all these years. Its true but you have to follow their rules. Half the time people who are picked in the lottery have waited 5-8 years to even get called. There shouldn't be a limit on how long you can get section 8 because some people spend their entire lives trying to escape poverty but without the tools or resources its very difficult for some. All I can say is make sure your contact info is up to date and apply for low income housing while you wait...By S. Diego, December 22, 2016
